Marta Sofia Honer

Marta Honer is an active musician that has performed across North America and Europe . Working in both classical and contemporary fields, Marta has performed and recorded with a wide variety of groups including Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Chloe x Halle, Kamasi Washington, BTS, Mariah Carey, and more, garnering her contribution to 5 Grammy Nominations.

Located in Los Angeles, Marta freelances as a viola and violin performer and session player. She enjoys time in the studio recording for film, TV, and albums, and has performed with the contemporary music ensembles Industry Opera & Sonic Open Orchestra. Recent recording highlights include Beyoncé’s Grammy nominated album Lion King: The Gift, music for the Oscar nominated film Promising Young Woman, strings on the 3x Grammy nominated Chloe x Halle record Ungodly Hour, and the first season of ABC’s show Queens.

Marta recently released her debut duo album Recordings from the Åland Islands with Jeremiah Chiu on International Anthem.
Marta also participated in the orchestra for The Industry’s experimental opera Sweet Land. 

An avid teacher as well as a performer, Marta is currently on music faculty at Cal State - LA.

Marta holds a degree in music performance from DePaul University’s School of Music, where she studied with Rami Solomonow and members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
